Q. 3: Is Opting Out for Everyone ?
A. No, some employer's in a very high risk industry may find it better to carry Worker's Comp insurance. The same is true for employers with high rates of employee turnover and a history of serious injuries. However, opting out may be a good decision for companies with a low frequency of accidents (or even a fairly large frequency of non-serious, "nuisance" accidents), a dedication to workplace safety, and a desire to participate in the oversight of employee injury claims. There are also some businesses that are require their vendors to have a Worker's Comp certificate as a prerequisite to doing business. Governmental entities also usually require their vendors to carry workman's comp.
